Cambodia, Thailand to Conduct 2nd Stage of Heavy Weapons Removal on Nov. 8

Cambodia and Thailand will carry out the second stage of the first phase of the removal of heavy and destructive weapons and equipment on Nov. 8, according to H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman for the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence.
The operation is being conducted in accordance with the action plan signed by Lt. Gen. Pov Heng, Commander of Military Region 4 of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and Maj. Gen. Virakyuth Raksing, Commander of the 2nd Army Area of the Kingdom of Thailand, on Oct. 31, 2025.
H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata recalled that both sides had successfully completed the first stage of the removal on Nov. 1, 2025, under the observation and verification of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT). She stressed that Cambodia will continue to work closely with Thailand to ensure the full, effective, and transparent implementation of the agreed plan.
On Oct. 31, 2025, the 4th Military Region of Cambodia and the 2nd Army Area of Thailand held a special meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC), during which both sides agreed on a concrete plan for the phased removal of heavy and destructive weapons and equipment, under AOT supervision and verification. The joint effort aims to de-escalate military tensions along the border.
The first phase of the removal process is being conducted in three stages, taking place from Nov. 1 to 21, 2025.
