Ministry of Commerce Promotes E-Commerce to Sell Products Domestically and Internationally
AKP Phnom Penh, November 06, 2025 --
The Royal Government of Cambodia through the Ministry of Commerce has promoting e-commerce and cross-border payments which enable SMEs to sell their products and meet both domestic and international demand.
The ministry’s Secretary of State H.E. Samheng Bora made the remarks at "the 8th Hongqiao International Economic Forum," held on Nov. 5 in Shanghai, China under the theme “Propelling Global Economic and Trade Development Through Finance.”
He emphasised that the financial sector is the lifeblood of trade, as access to appropriate financing helps boost production, connect markets, and strengthen confidence in global trade.
In the current context, financial innovation—particularly digital payment systems and fintech solutions for cross-border payments—has transformed the way trade and investment are conducted.
H.E. Secretary of State also highlighted several initiatives of the Royal Government of Cambodia to promote an inclusive financial sector and digital connectivity, including:
1. Developing the National Single Window and the CamDx platform to enhance transparency and reduce time and costs in accessing public services;
2. Supporting SMEs in gaining access to financing and adopting digital tools to facilitate their growth and exports;
3. Promoting e-commerce and cross-border payments, especially through platforms like CambodiaTrade.com, which enable SMEs to sell their products and meet both domestic and international demand, as well as partnerships with major platforms such as Alibaba to strengthen the presence of Cambodian products online;
4. The creation of the Bakong system by the National Bank of Cambodia, which facilitates faster and more convenient digital payments, thereby contributing to more inclusive trade practices.
He also briefed the forum on Cambodia’s latest developments in the economic, trade, and investment sectors.
