ASEAN Observer Team Continues Inspection of Weapon Withdrawal in Kampong Speu Province

The ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) continued its inspection mission this morning in Kampong Speu province, overseeing the return of heavy and destructive weapons and equipment to their original location. The operation was conducted under the coordination of the Coordinating Task Force for the Observer Team of the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence.
According to H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence, the weapons and equipment were withdrawn from Choam Ksant and Rovieng districts, Preah Vihear province, on Nov. 1, 2025, at 6:45 p.m., as part of the first phase of the removal plan jointly agreed upon by Cambodia and Thailand.
This activity, she underlined, clearly demonstrates Cambodia’s sincere commitment and firm determination to implement the Joint Declaration adopted in Kuala Lumpur between the two countries. The declaration was signed on Oct. 26, 2025, by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and H.E. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, under the witness of U.S. President Donald J. Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
At the same time, she expressed Cambodia’s strong hope that both sides will continue to fully and effectively implement the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration with sincerity, goodwill, and transparency, thereby contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, development, and the swift return to normalcy.
