AOT Inspects Return of Heavy Weapons to Original Location

The ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) this morning inspected the implementation of the 1st phase of the removal of heavy and destructive weapons and equipment that were returned to the original location in Kandal province.
The inspection was coordinated by the Coordinating Task Force for the Observer Team of the Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia, said the Ministry’s Spokeswoman H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata.
These heavy and destructive weapons and equipment were withdrawn from Choam Ksant and Rovieng districts, Preah Vihear province, on Nov. 1, 2025, at 6:45 p.m., in accordance with the phased removal plan for heavy and destructive weapons and equipment agreed by both Cambodia and Thailand.
“The above-mentioned activities evidently demonstrate Cambodia's sincere commitment and steady determination to implement the Joint Declaration in Kuala Lumpur between Cambodia and Thailand, signed on Oct. 26, 2025 by Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, and the Prime Minister of Thailand, with the U.S. President H.E. Donald J. Trump, and the Prime Minister of Malaysia, H.E. Anwar Ibrahim, served as witnesses,” the spokeswoman underlined.
At the same time, she added, Cambodia strongly hopes that both sides will fully and effectively implement the Joint Declaration in Kuala Lumpur, with sincerity, goodwill, and transparency, to contribute to promoting peace, stability, cooperation, development, and the swift return to normalcy.
