Cuba at ISA Assembly follows up on key agreements
AKP Phnom Penh, October 30, 2025 --
Cuba's participation in the General Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) allows for monitoring the results of the recent visit to the island of the alliance's leadership, a Cuban official reported.
In statements to Prensa Latina, Eneida Rodriguez, a specialist from Cuba’s Energy and Mines Ministry (MINEM), remembered that during the visit of ISA Director General, Ashish Khanna, to the Caribbean nation, several important issues to support the island in its energy transition toward renewable energy were addressed.
Khanna noted that this will contribute to fulfilling one of the Caribbean nation’s fundamental objectives in its journey to put an end to the total dependence on fossil fuels and achieve 100 percent renewable energy generation.
The ISA and Cuba’s MINEM signed in August a Country Framework agreement focused on seven key projects, according to statements made at the time by Rosell Guerra, Director of Renewable Energies at that Cuban Ministry.
Such agreements reflect a pact that will serve as a basis for increased cooperation between both parties and a review of the participation of different business sectors in the economy.
The official commented that both the Alliance and MINEM agreed to expand and advance their collaboration on the development of priority projects to ensure the production of food, medicine, energy in rural areas, and other essential goods, the official commented.
