Cambodia, Thailand Convene 2nd Special GBC Meeting in Malaysia to Advance Ceasefire Implementation
AKP Phnom Penh, October 23, 2025 --
The 2nd Special General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting between Cambodia and Thailand commenced this morning in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, under the observation of key parties, including representatives from Malaysia, the United States, and members of the Interim Observer Team (IOT) in Cambodia and Thailand.
The Cambodian delegation is led by H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defence, and Co-Chairman of the Cambodia-Thailand GBC, while the Thai delegation is headed by H.E. Gen. Nattaphon Nakphanit, Minister of National Defence and Co-Chairman of the Cambodia-Thailand GBC.
This 2nd Special GBC Meeting follows the 1st Special GBC Meeting held on Sept. 10, 2025, in Koh Kong province, Cambodia.
According to H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence, the meeting aims to review the progress of implementing the consensus reached at the GBC Extraordinary Meeting held on Aug. 7, 2025, in Malaysia.
Prior to this, from Oct. 20 to 22, 2025, the Cambodia-Thailand GBC Secretariat held in-depth discussions on key documents to further enhance mutual trust and ensure the effective implementation of the ceasefire agreement.
“Cambodia firmly believes that the 2nd Special GBC Meeting will yield further fruitful outcomes and ensure the full and effective implementation of the ceasefire agreement by both parties, to promote peace, stability, and a swift return to normalcy,” stressed the spokeswoman.
