Cambodian Monarchs Back from China after Routine Medical Checkup
AKP Phnom Penh, October 12, 2025 --
His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, and Her Majesty the Queen-Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk returned home this afternoon after spending more than a month in China for their routine medical checkup.
Their Majesties were warmly welcomed upon arrival at Techo International Airport in Kandal province by Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, who is also President of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King, and his spouse Samdech Kittiprittpundit Bun Rany Hun Sen; Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and his spouse Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony; along with many other high-ranking officials and members of the Royal Family.
Representatives of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia were also present on the occasion.
The Cambodian monarchs had departed for China on Aug. 23, 2025, for their regular medical checkup.
During their stay, Their Majesties the King and Queen-Mother met with H.E. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, and his spouse, Madame Peng Liyuan. His Majesty the King also attended the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, and granted an exclusive interview to People’s Daily of China, during which he highlighted the close and longstanding friendship between Cambodia and China.
Their Majesties undergo medical examinations in Beijing twice a year and are always received with warm hospitality and care by Chinese leaders and medical professionals.
