Cambodian Culture Minister Joins Singaporean Ambassador for Film Screening Marking 60th Anniversary of Singapore

Cambodian Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, H.E. Dr. Phoeurng Sackona, and the Ambassador of Singapore to Cambodia, H.E. Ms. Teo Lay Cheng, presided over a special screening of the Singaporean film “KOPITIAM DAYS” on Thursday evening.
The event, held at the Legend Olympia Cinema in Phnom Penh, was organised to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Republic of Singapore.
In her opening remarks, H.E. Dr. Phoeurng Sackona highlighted the strong bilateral ties between the two nations. "The leaders of the Royal Governments of Cambodia and Singapore highly value the long-standing friendship between our two countries," she stated. "We have reaffirmed our commitment to continue enhancing and expanding cooperation at all levels."
The Minister emphasised that the film screening underscored the vital role of cultural diplomacy in strengthening international relationships. She described the event as a reminder of "the crucial role culture plays in connecting people."
Elaborating on the purpose of the exchange, H.E. Dr. Phoeurng Sackona noted that such initiatives go beyond mere entertainment.
She articulated that they are fundamental to "fostering meaningful community relations that generate mutual understanding, respect, and a shared appreciation for peace."
