Sihanoukville Autonomous Port Hosts Two More Foreign Vessels

Two vessels of the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) of China – Qi Jiguang (PLAN 83) and Yi Mengshan (PLAN 988) – arrived in Cambodia this morning for a five-day visit from Oct. 10 to 14, aimed at strengthening naval ties between the two countries.
The two Chinese ships docked at Sihanoukville Autonomous Port in Preah Sihanouk province, where they were warmly welcomed by Admiral In Sokhemra, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Ream Naval Base, along with other senior naval officers.
According to the Ream Naval Base, Qi Jiguang (PLAN 83), a training ship commanded by Captain Xu Jianguo, measures 165 metres in length, 22.2 metres in width, and 6.5 metres in draught, with a displacement of 10,907 tonnes. Yi Mengshan (PLAN 988), commanded by Captain Fu Xianwei, is 210 metres long, 28 metres wide, and 7.5 metres in draught, with a displacement of 26,040 tonnes.
The five-day visit aims to further strengthen the bonds of friendship and solidarity, as well as promote closer cooperation between the Royal Cambodian Navy and the People’s Liberation Army Navy.
