AKP Phnom Penh, October 09, 2025 --  

The Kingdom of Cambodia and the Commonwealth of Dominica have reached a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Establishment of Bilateral Consultations between their respective Ministries of Foreign Affairs.

The MoU exchange ceremony took place this morning at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh, under the witness of Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and visiting Honorable Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, following their bilateral meeting.

Both leaders highly valued the signing of the MoU, viewing it as a step forward to promote practical cooperation in potential areas of mutual benefit. They encouraged the relevant ministries and institutions of the two countries to continue strengthening and expanding their relations and cooperation, particularly through this consultation mechanism, which will be held every two years. The consultations will focus on areas such as politics, diplomacy, consular affairs, and security; economy, trade, and investment; as well as culture, environment, education, training, research, and development.

The two Prime Ministers also discussed and exchanged views on enhancing cooperation in key areas including politics and diplomacy, economy, trade, agriculture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet described the working visit of Honorable Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit to Cambodia as an important opportunity to strengthen and broaden bilateral relations and cooperation, noting that this year marks the 15th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Honorable Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit expressed his deep gratitude to the Royal Government, the Cambodian people, and Samdech Thipadei for their warm and cordial hospitality. He commended Cambodia’s development progress and voiced his satisfaction with the advancement of the two countries’ friendly relations, expressing confidence that cooperation will continue to grow and deepen.

Regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border situation, Samdech Thipadei reiterated Cambodia’s commitment to resolving the border issue peacefully, in accordance with bilateral agreements, existing conventions and treaties, and international law. Honorable Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit said he clearly understood the issue and supported peaceful settlement efforts.

Honorable Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit arrived in Phnom Penh on Oct. 8 for a three-day working visit to Cambodia.
