Cambodia, Norway Agree to Boost Collaboration between Private Sectors

Cambodia and Norway are committed to further promoting collaboration between the private sectors, which serves as a catalyst for resilient, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth.
The commitment was reaffirmed during a meeting in Phnom Penh on Oct. 7 between H.E. Ms. TEKRETH Kamrang, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce, and H.E. Ms. Astrid Emilie Helle, Ambassador of Norway to Cambodia.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, the meeting was aimed to discuss and exchange views on mechanisms to promote bilateral trade relations between Cambodia and Norway.
On this occasion, H.E. Ms. TEKRETH Kamrang highlighted the Royal Government of Cambodia’s efforts to diversify the economy and to align with international standards and regulations as part of the country's preparations for graduating from Least Developed Country (LDC) status. Additionally, the Ministry of Commerce has been formulating the Cambodia Trade Policy Framework 2030, developing a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) portal, and promoting digital trade.
The Secretary of State also requested the Norwegian side to consider establishing a joint mechanism and private-sector consultations.
In response, H.E. Ms. Astrid Emilie Helle shared insights on Norway’s economic situation, welcomed the proposals from the Secretary of State, and expressed interest in participating in various relevant programmes organised by the Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia.
