Industry Minister Receives Global Entrepreneur 1%
AKP Phnom Penh, October 02, 2025 --
H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, has received a delegation from the Association of Global Entrepreneur 1% Club, led by its President, Mr. Heang Vuthea, to discuss advancing the role of entrepreneurs in Cambodia’s economic development.
During the meeting held at the Ministry on Oct. 2, Mr. Heang Vuthea introduced the association, which now counts over 1,250 members managing more than 4,000 businesses. He highlighted its activities, including regular networking events, business exchanges, capacity-building programmes, and CSR initiatives, as well as its international presence and partnerships that have benefited nearly 4,900 companies.
Minister Vanndy commended the association’s progress and urged it to strengthen its contribution to Cambodia’s “missing middle” of enterprises that can capture opportunities between small businesses and large foreign investors.
“Cambodia has many business associations, but the most impactful are those that deliver real benefits to their members,” he said.
The Minister encouraged the group to promote compliance, strengthen entrepreneurship, build capacity on standards and export requirements, and ensure a strong membership base grounded in business ethics, rules, and discipline.
Mr. Vuthea welcomed Minister Vanndy’s guidance, noting the association’s interest in supporting local production and advancing import substitution.
