Cambodian Royal Government Spokesperson Asserts National Unity Against "Psychological Warfare"
AKP Phnom Penh, October 02, 2025 --
A senior official of the Royal Government of Cambodia stated on Thursday that the nation's unity and collective wisdom render it impervious to foreign-backed disinformation campaigns aimed at destabilising the country.
In a public address, H.E. Pen Bona, Head of the Royal Government Spokesperson Unit, identified what he described as coordinated efforts to wage "psychological warfare" against Cambodia. He alleged that these campaigns are designed to sow division within Cambodian society and undermine its primary "shield of protection"—national solidarity.
The spokesperson outlined three primary methods being used, according to the Royal Government’s assessment:
1. The operation of fraudulent social media accounts that use Cambodian names and the Khmer language but are allegedly managed by foreign actors; 2. The exploitation of official and public news platforms to disseminate false and inflammatory information, with the alleged intent to create distress and division among the public, armed forces, and the Royal Government; 3. The manipulation of certain Cambodians living abroad, whom the spokesperson characterised as political opponents acting against the national interest, to amplify hostile propaganda.
Despite these tactics, H.E. Pen Bona stated that the Cambodian people, both at home and abroad, have largely rejected these influence operations. He claimed that citizens have effectively countered the campaigns, leading to their rapid failure.
He praised "true patriots" for standing with the Royal Government and armed forces to defend the nation's supreme interests. "Khmer patriots will never allow division among themselves in such critical moments," he said, framing the public's vigilance as a demonstration of genuine patriotism.
The spokesperson concluded by calling for continued national solidarity and public trust in the Royal Government and security institutions. He expressed confidence in the leadership's ability to take necessary measures to preserve peace and territorial integrity.
"No force can ever defeat the wisdom and the great force of national unity of the Khmer people," H.E. Pen Bona affirmed.
