ADB Lauds Strong Partnership with Royal Government of Cambodia
AKP Phnom Penh, September 26, 2025 -- Ms. Jyotsana Varma, outgoing Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for Cambodia, has expressed her deep appreciation for the close and productive cooperation between ADB and the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC).
During a farewell courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh this afternoon, Ms. Varma thanked the RGC for its trust and support in strengthening the partnership between ADB and Cambodia. She also praised the active collaboration and assistance provided by Cambodian ministries and institutions throughout her tenure.
The outgoing Country Director highlighted the achievements and ongoing projects carried out under this cooperation framework, noting ADB’s support in key priority sectors such as education, water resources, agriculture, vocational training, and rural development. She expressed satisfaction with ADB’s contribution to Cambodia’s socio-economic progress.
In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet commended Ms. Varma’s efforts and acknowledged the important role of ADB in advancing Cambodia’s development. He expressed gratitude for ADB’s continued support in strategic planning, policy formulation, and socio-economic development, especially in helping Cambodia prepare for its graduation from Least Developed Country (LDC) status in 2029.
The Premier reaffirmed the Royal Government’s commitment to further strengthening its partnership with ADB and encouraged the Bank to continue its collaboration with Cambodian ministries and institutions to achieve new development milestones.
