Cambodia, U.S. Commend Progress in Their Relations

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and visiting U.S. Representative for Washington H.E. Adam Smith lauded the progress of Cambodia–U.S. relations and cooperation during a courtesy meeting at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh this afternoon.
The two sides exchanged views on strengthening collaboration in key areas such as the economy, investment, national defence, security, and education, while exploring new opportunities for future cooperation.
Congressman Adam Smith, who was accompanied by fellow U.S. Representatives Michael Baumgartner and Chrissy Houlahan, underlined that the visit aims to further enhance bilateral ties. He also praised Cambodia’s achievements in economic development.
For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet briefed the U.S. Congressional delegation on the latest developments along the Cambodia–Thailand border, reaffirming Cambodia’s commitment to resolving the issue peacefully in accordance with bilateral agreements, conventions, treaties, and international law.
The Cambodian Premier also expressed gratitude to U.S. President Donald J. Trump for his role in facilitating a rapid ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, which helped save many lives.
