Cambodia Thanks China for Key Role in Ceasefire and Peace Building Efforts
AKP Phnom Penh, September 19, 2025 -- Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence H.E. General Tea Seiha on Sept. 18 expressed Cambodia’s profound gratitude to China for its critical role in brokering the ceasefire with Thailand and its ongoing support for peace-building efforts.
H.E. General Tea Seiha made the remarks during a bilateral working discussion with Chinese Minister of National Defence H.E. Admiral Dong Jun, on the sidelines of the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, held in Beijing from Sept. 17-19.
The meeting focused on consolidating the relationship and strengthening defence cooperation between the two nations, alongside discussions related to the Cambodia-Thailand ceasefire.
“Cambodia expresses its deep gratitude to China for playing a key role in facilitating the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand,” said H.E. General Tea Seiha. “This support is proof that China is the most reliable friend and a good sibling, which always shares both hardship and happiness with the Cambodian nation.
Cambodia has a strong will to walk hand-in-hand with China to enhance cooperation in all sectors, in line with the strategic direction of our two leaders.”
The Chinese side expressed his desire for both countries to effectively implement the ceasefire agreement. China also advocated for increased bilateral dialogue to build trust and restore peace between Cambodia and Thailand.
Both parties pledged joint commitment to strengthening practical cooperation across all fields, including trainee education and joint military exercises.
These initiatives are aimed at contributing to the establishment of the Cambodia-China All-Weather Community and a Shared Future in the New Era.
