The Ministry of Health (MoH) has issued a warning for upcoming Pchum Ben Festival, urging caution about food safety, alcohol poisoning and road accidents, while advising the public to follow hygiene practices, avoid bootleg liquor and drive safely to prevent health risks and fatalities.
The MoH’s announcement aims to prevent any health issues related to eating bad food and drinking bootleg traditional wine, as well as a spike in traffic accidents that normally occur during the festival every year.
The MoH also called on authorities to help guide the implementation of food safety measures and ensure that food is prepared safely and well-kept in pagodas by not mixing food together all to avoid food poisoning or food-borne diseases.
In addition, the ministry urged the prevention of the sale of alcohol that is mixed or produced without using proper techniques, as well as advising people to avoid using methanol to brew traditional white wine that can cause poisoning and death.
The MoH is also asking the public to play their part by implementing measures to protect their personal health, family and community from various diseases and illnesses, including food and alcohol poisoning, safety on the roads, and the spread of respiratory infections, influenza, bird flu, Covid-19 and other infectious diseases.
