AKP Phnom Penh, September 08, 2025 --
The US$1.5 billion Techo International Airport (TIA), Cambodia’s newest gateway to the world, is set to commence operations on the morning of Sept. 9, 2025.
According to H.E. Sinn Chanserey Vutha, Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Secretariat of Civil Aviation, the inaugural flight will be operated by the national flag carrier, Air Cambodia (K6 611), followed by Singapore Airlines (SQ 155). A welcome ceremony will be presided over by H.E. Dr. Mao Havannall, Minister in Charge of the Secretariat of Civil Aviation, and H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism.
TIA, the largest airport in Cambodia, will be officially inaugurated on Oct. 20, 2025, under the presidency of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Located on more than 2,600 hectares of land in Prek Sleng commune, Kandal Stung district of Kandal province and partly in Bati district, Takeo province, the new airport lies approximately 20 kilometres from Phnom Penh capital.
As a large-scale 4F international airport, TIA is designed to accommodate long-haul flights from across continents, including the Airbus A380-800 and Boeing 747-800 aircrafts.
Once operational, the airport is expected to boost not only Cambodia’s aviation sector but also tourism, passenger and cargo transport, trade, real estate, and overall economic growth in the surrounding areas.
Phnom Penh International Airport will cease operations at midnight on Sept. 8, 2025, with all flights transferred to the new facility from 00:00 on Sept. 9. Korean Air will be the last airline to depart from Phnom Penh International Airport, also known as Pochentong Airport, before the official transfer.
