Cambodian Delegates Visit Historic Great Wall of China

A Cambodian delegation, currently in China for a capacity-building programme, paid a visit to the Great Wall of China, one of the world’s most renowned cultural heritage sites.
The visit offered the Cambodian delegates an opportunity to witness firsthand the historical significance of the Great Wall, a symbol of China’s ancient civilisation and resilience.
Delegates expressed their admiration for the monument’s architectural grandeur and cultural value, highlighting it as a testament to the strength and perseverance of the Chinese people.
Mrs. Tann Ravy, Department Deputy Director at the Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP), said she was deeply impressed by the magnificence of the Great Wall, noting that it reflects the wisdom and determination of the Chinese nation.
“Standing here reminds me of the importance of preserving history for future generations,” she added.
Mr. Sorn Bora, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation (DIC) of the Ministry of Information, remarked that visiting the Great Wall was an unforgettable experience. He emphasised that such historical sites inspire greater understanding between people.
“This journey strengthens my appreciation of China’s heritage and the enduring friendship with Cambodia,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Keo Preypratha, DIC’s Deputy Chief of Bureau highlighted the cultural and educational value of the visit.
“Learning about the Great Wall motivates us to further promote cultural exchanges between Cambodia and China,” he noted, stressing the role of youth in advancing bilateral ties.
The Cambodian delegates underlined that people-to-people contact and mutual learning are vital in further strengthening the “ironclad friendship” that continues to bind the two nations.
The visit to the Great Wall was part of the delegation’s broader study and cultural exchange programme in Beijing, reflecting the two countries’ commitment to strengthening historical, educational, and cultural cooperation.
