MoUs Signed to Boost Cambodia–Yunnan Tourism Cooperation
AKP Phnom Penh, August 28, 2025 -- Five memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on tourism cooperation were signed on Aug. 26 in Yunnan province, aiming to strengthen tourism ties between Cambodia and Yunnan, China.
The agreements were concrete outcomes of the working visit of a Cambodian delegation led by H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, to Yunnan province.
The signing ceremony was presided over by H.E. Huot Hak together with Mr. Ma Zhigang, Head of the Yunnan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and Mr. Liu Minglin, CEO of Yunnan Investment Group.
The five MoUs included 1. MoU between Siem Reap Provincial Department of Tourism and the Yunnan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism; 2. MoU between Cambodia Tourism Marketing and Promotion Board and Angkor International Airport Investment (Cambodia) Co., Ltd.; 3. MoU between Cambodia Tourism Vocational School and the Yunnan College of Tourism; 4. MoU between the Cambodia Tourism Association and the Yunnan Provincial Tourism Association; and 5. MoU between the Cambodia Tourism Association and Yunnan Qicheng International Travel Services Co., Ltd.
During his stay in Yunnan, H.E. Huot Hak also met with major tourism enterprises, including representatives of leading international travel companies such as Trip.com, to exchange views and share experiences on strengthening tourism cooperation.
Discussions focused on expanding collaboration to boost tourist flows between Cambodia, Yunnan, and broader international markets, while implementing concrete development plans. Both sides agreed to promote Cambodia’s tourism potential, disseminate accurate information to counter disinformation, and organise a Familiarisation Trip (FAM Trip).
According to official data, Cambodia welcomed nearly 690,000 Chinese tourists in the first seven months of this year, marking a 48.2 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
