Senior Minister Leads Inspection of Bomb-Damaged Sites in Oddar Meanchey
AKP Phnom Penh, August 27, 2025 -- The First Vice President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority has led a technical team to inspect sites and buildings damaged by shells and aerial bombs dropped by the Thai military.
H.E. Senior Minister Ly Thuch carried out the inspection on Aug. 27 at pagodas, schools, and health centres in Banteay Ampil district and Samrong city, Oddar Meanchey province.
The visit aimed to assess the extent of destruction and prepare for cleanup operations ahead of the return of displaced residents and students to ensure their safety for religious ceremonies, daily livelihoods, medical services, and educational activities.
According to the Senior Minister, the recovery efforts will include not only the removal of unexploded ordnance but also the reconstruction and repair of affected infrastructure.
The Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority will work closely with the local authorities and mine clearance operators to evaluate and expedite the safe removal of the explosives.
H.E. Ly Thuch emphasised the importance of restoring these vital community facilities to support the resumption of normal life.
