New Ambassador of Timor-Leste Pays a Courtesy Call on DPM Prak Sokhonn
AKP Phnom Penh, August 25, 2025 -- H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, receives at the ministry on Aug. 25 a courtesy call by H.E. Marcos dos Reis da Costa, newly appointed Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
According to a news release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued this evening, during the meeting, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister congratulated H.E. Marcos Da Costa on his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to the Kingdom of Cambodia. He further extended best wishes and full support to H.E. Ambassador in the successful fulfillment of his diplomatic mission, expressing confidence that his tenure will further strengthen the close bonds of friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and Timor-Leste.
H.E. Prak Sokhonn also expressed appreciation to the Government of Timor-Leste for the cordial hospitality and excellent arrangements accorded to Samdech Techo HUN Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, during his official visit to Timor-Leste in May.
For his part, H.E. Marcos Da Costa expressed his strong commitment to further strengthening the close relations and deepening cooperation across a wide range of sectors. He affirmed his dedication to maintaining and building upon the positive momentum established by his predecessor.
He also expressed Timor-Leste’s deep gratitude to Cambodia for supporting Timor-Leste to become the 11th member of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
H.E. Prak Sokhonn assured the Ambassador that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation stands ready to provide all necessary support and assistance to facilitate his diplomatic mission.
