2025 National Mountaineering Championship Successfully Concluded
AKP Phnom Penh, August 25, 2025 -- The 2025 National Mountaineering Championship has been successfully concluded after a three-day competition process in Phnom Penh.
The closing ceremony of the competition took place at Le Club in Phnom Penh on Aug. 24 under the presidency of H.E. Bou Chumserey, Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports.
H.E. Laing Ona, President of the Climbing and Hiking Federation of Cambodia, spoke highly of the Competition Organising Committee and athletes for their good cooperation in running the competition smoothly and fairly, adding that this move will enable the federation to select the best players for international sporting competitions in the future.
H.E. Bou Chumserey appreciated the efforts of the federation's president, members, coach, judges, arbitrators, and players in contributing to the development of such an Olympic sport in Cambodia.
The tournament aimed to appoint the greatest competitors for international sports events in the future, especially for the Asian Youth Games, which Cambodia will host in 2029, he added.
The 2025 National Mountaineering Championship featured 61 mountain climbers (18 females) from various clubs.
The winners in that contest were selected from 17 disciplines, including the Speed, divided into 4 small subcategories, with age limits ranging from 13 years and under to 20 years and up; the Top Rope and Lead, with 6 categories limiting age from 13 years and under to 20 years and up; and the Boulder for players aged from 14 years and under to 20 years and up.
