Minister of Information Commends Cambodian Media for Timely, Accurate Reporting on Border Issues
AKP Phnom Penh, August 25, 2025 --
Minister of Information H.E. Neth Pheaktra has praised Cambodia's media outlets for their crucial role in providing timely and accurate information on border issues, effectively combating misinformation and disinformation.
The minister’s remarks were made during a meeting to provide guidance and orientation on the dissemination and distribution of information that negatively impacts national security, held at the ministry’s office here this morning.
"Our media system has worked together as one voice to deliver comprehensive and accurate information on border issues to our citizens," said H.E. Neth Pheaktra, noting that even in the face of attempts by Thailand to "distort and exaggerate information," the public has remained calm and confident due to their access to truthful news from official government and media sources.
He specifically commended both modern and traditional media platforms, as well as journalists, for their active role in disseminating factual information from the Royal Government, the Ministry of National Defence, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The minister also cited statements from Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate, and Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, as key sources of reliable information.
H.E. Minister reiterated that the public's trust is primarily placed in official channels, including the verified social media pages of the Royal Government and its ministries, as well as those of Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet.
He also urged all media outlets to report responsibly and factually to maintain national security and public trust. The minister emphasised that the systematic sharing of official information has helped citizens stay resilient against hostile propaganda from certain Thai outlets. Regular briefings from the Royal Government Spokesperson Unit, along with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and National Defence, have also reinforced public confidence.
The minister concluded by condemning what he described as deliberate attempts by the other side to spread fabricated news against Cambodia to undermine the Kingdom’s international reputation.
