Cambodian Officials Praise Knowledge and Cultural Exchange at Kunming Short Video Production Seminar
AKP Phnom Penh, August 25, 2025 --
A delegation of eight officials from Cambodia's Ministry of Information, along with foreign counterparts, attended the closing ceremony of a successful seminar on "Short Video Creation and Communication for Developing Countries," held on Aug. 25, in Yunnan province, China.
The two-week seminar, organised by the Yunnan International Centre for Economic and Technical Exchange (YICETE), since Aug. 12 in Kunming, Yunnan province, brings together a diverse group of nearly 40 delegates from 10 countries.
The event, which provided a platform for participants to enhance their skills in media production and foster cross-cultural communication, was lauded by the Cambodian delegation for its comprehensive approach to modern media.
According to Ms. Saing Manita, an Advisor and a Member of Cabinet of Cambodian Minister of Information, the programme not only provided the participants with invaluable technical skills and knowledge in short video production but also offered a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Chinese culture.
"This seminar was more than just a training session; it was a profound cultural experience," she said.
"We gained hands-on skills in video creation, editing, and content strategy that are essential for today's digital landscape. But we also had the chance to engage with Chinese culture and build relationships with our counterparts from around the world,” she added.
The Cambodian delegation highlighted the importance of cross-cultural communication, noting that the interactions with fellow participants from different countries helped to broaden their perspectives and strengthen international ties.
The officials expressed their appreciation for the hospitality of their Chinese hosts and the quality of the training provided, which covered everything from scriptwriting and shooting to post-production and digital dissemination.
The knowledge and skills acquired are expected to be applied to enhance Cambodia's media capabilities, particularly in creating compelling and engaging short video content for public information and cultural promotion. The delegation expressed its commitment to sharing the insights gained with colleagues in Cambodia's Ministry of Information.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, YICETE Deputy-Director Mrs. Wei Na expressed their satisfaction with the seminar's outcome.
“Short video has become a powerful tool for information dissemination and cultural exchange. We believe that by sharing our experiences and technologies, we can help developing countries strengthen their media capabilities and promote a better understanding among nations,” Mrs. Wei Na said.
During their stay in China, foreign delegations had a number of outdoor activities including visiting the Yunnan International Communication Centre for South and Southeast Asia, Fantawild Holding Inc., Shenzhen Daily, Shenzhen Dafeng Media, Qichen Technology Co., Ltd., Yunnan Media Group, Department of Yunnan.cn, and Guandu Ancient Town.
Ms. Saing Manita took opportunity underscoring that this year is especially meaningful as we celebrate the 67th anniversary of Cambodia-China diplomatic relations, a partnership strengthened by the Action Plan on the Implementation of the Strategic Partnership Cooperation Framework between the two governments.
Under this framework, Cambodia and China have deepened collaborations in radio and television broadcasting, information exchange, and digital media innovation—areas that directly align with this seminar’s focus, she said.
