Cambodia Joins Regional Celebration of Fit ASEAN Day 2025
AKP Phnom Penh, August 20, 2025 -- On the morning of Aug. 20, Cambodia celebrated Fit ASEAN Day 2025 under the theme "Healthy Community, Developing Community" at the Statue of the Princess in Branha Baromey Park, Phnom Penh.
According to H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the Fit ASEAN Day 2025 was held as part of the ASEAN plan to promote physical and mental health and test the fitness of people in ASEAN member states.
ASEAN has been actively working towards promoting healthy lifestyles and combating non-communicable diseases (NCD) in the region, emphasised the Secretary of State.
He added that, through the collaborative efforts of the ASEAN Senior Officials' Meeting on Health and the ASEAN Senior Officials' Meeting on Sports, ASEAN has worked to promote greater awareness of the vital role physical activity and nutrition play in improving public health and driving sustainable, inclusive economic growth.
The Fit ASEAN Day 2025, organised by the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports in collaboration with the Phnom Penh Administration, drew a crowd of 500 coaches, athletes, students, and members of the public.
The event featured a variety of activities, including 100 individuals taking part in fitness assessments, 300 joining group exercise sessions set to music, 50 playing table tennis, and another 50 enjoying badminton matches.
