Cambodia's National Triathlon Team Dominates Ho Chi Minh City Championship

The Cambodian national triathlon team swept all five categories at the Ho Chi Minh City Triathlon Championship 2025 in Vietnam on Aug. 15-18, signaling strong preparation for upcoming international competitions.
Cambodian athlete John Soboros noted the team’s stellar performance, with competitors securing multiple top finishes.
In the men’s triathlon, Cambodian athlete and coach Hugo Panha Pelletier clinched first place against top Vietnamese contenders. On the women’s side, Carla La Planeta, a Cambodian-Filipino athlete, took first, with teammate Phal Srey Phoung finishing third.
The winning streak continued across other disciplines. Ung Lymeng secured first in the men’s aquathlon. In the duathlon events, Ung Socheata earned first place in the women’s category, while in the men’s duathlon, Kit Visal took first, followed by John Soboros in second and Saroeun Sophearian in third.
According to Ngin Sok Panha, Secretary-General of the Cambodian Triathlon Federation, a nine-member delegation participated in the championship with the full support of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. The Cambodian Triathlon Federation covered all expenses for the trip.
Mr. Panha highlighted the championship as a crucial opportunity for both the senior and youth national teams to build technical skills ahead of major events. He added that these achievements are a valuable boost for the athletes as they prepare for the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain in October 2025.
