More than 2.6 million people have directly and indirectly benefited from the China-aided Cambodia Landmine Elimination Project over the past seven years.
According to H.E. Heng Ratana, Director-General of the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC), from 2018 to July 2025, CMAC cleared over 160 square kilometres of land contaminated with landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO), and found and destroyed more than 95,700 landmines and UXOs.
He expressed deep gratitude to the people and Government of the People’s Republic of China for their continued support through the China-Aided Cambodia Landmine Elimination Project since 2008.
At the same time, the Director-General confirmed that CMAC, through the Royal Government, has already received positive confirmation for the “China-Aided Project for Landmine Impact Free Cambodia 2030 and Maximum ERW Reduction” for 2026-2028, focusing on clearance of landmines, cluster munitions, and explosive remnants of war (ERW).
Under the new project, CMAC plans to release 135 square kilometres of land in six provinces: Siem Reap, Kampong Thom, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Kratie, and Stung Treng.
