CMAC Director General Urges Thailand to Strictly Implement Border Agreement to Prevent Further Incidents
AKP Phnom Penh, August 09, 2025 --
H.E. Heng Ratana, Director General of the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC), has called on the Thai side to fully and strictly implement the agreed points from the Extraordinary Meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC) held on Aug. 7, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
In a Facebook post this evening, H.E. Heng Ratana referred to an incident earlier in the day, when a landmine — a remnant of past conflicts — wounded three Thai soldiers in the Cambodia-Thailand border area. The information, he noted, was reported by both national and international media outlets.
“To avoid further incidents and confusion at the frontlines, I strongly hope the Thai side will strictly implement the Agreed Minutes of the Extraordinary GBC Meeting between Cambodia and Thailand, particularly Point 2, as agreed on Aug. 7, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur,” he stressed.
Point 2 stipulates, “Both sides agree to maintain current troop deployments without further movement as it is at the time ceasefire reached at 24:00 hours (local time) on July 28, 2025. There shall be no troop movements including patrol towards the other side's position.”
