Banteay Meanchey Governor and Good Neighbours Provide Aid to Over 900 Displaced Families
AKP Phnom Penh, August 08, 2025 -- H.E. Oum Reatrey, Governor of Banteay Meanchey province, alongside Mr. Khuong Sopheak, Country Representative of Good Neighbors Cambodia, led a humanitarian mission to deliver emergency relief supplies to 938 families displaced by conflict along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
The aid distribution took place at a temporary shelter in Sela Khmer village, O’ Beichoan commune, O’ Chrov district this morning.
Senior provincial officials joined the effort to assist families forced to flee their homes due to recent escalating tensions in the border region, which have severely disrupted livelihoods and living conditions.
During the event, Governor Oum Reatrey commended Good Neighbors for their steadfast partnership with provincial authorities in delivering critical humanitarian aid. He underscored that the assistance extended beyond material support, symbolising solidarity, compassion, and the shared commitment of the Royal Government and development partners to uphold the dignity of affected communities.
Mr. Khuong Sopheak reaffirmed Good Neighbors’ dedication to collaborating with the Royal Government of Cambodia and Banteay Meanchey’s provincial leadership to support displaced populations. He emphasised that addressing the immediate needs of conflict-affected families remains central to the organisation’s humanitarian mission, particularly in crisis situations.
The event was also attended by H.E. Nuom Sophorn, Member of National Assembly for Banteay Meanchey; as well as senior provincial officials; district-level officials; and local authorities. Their collective presence demonstrated a unified response to community challenges and reinforced the importance of coordinated action during emergencies.
The relief packages included essential food items, daily necessities, and household supplies, providing crucial support to displaced families during their temporary displacement.
