Interim Observer Team Inspects ASEAN Observer Team Headquarters in Oddar Meanchey

In line with the Agreement of the Extraordinary Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting held on Aug. 7, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the Interim Observer Team (IOT) conducted an inspection visit to Oddar Meanchey province this morning.
Led by Colonel Nazlee Bin Abdul Rahim, Malaysian Defence Attaché to the Kingdom of Cambodia and Head of the IOT, the delegation inspected the headquarters of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) as well as several other locations serving the mission.
The update was shared by H.E. Neth Pheaktra, Cambodian Minister of Information, who noted that the visit was coordinated by Lt. Gen. Phat Vibolsopheak, Deputy Director-General of the General Department of Politics and Foreign Affairs and Director of the International Relations Department at the Ministry of National Defence.
During a press briefing at 11:00 a.m. today, H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defence, detailed the composition of the IOT delegation. It includes the Defence Attachés and Assistant Defence Attachés of Myanmar, Indonesia, Singapore (based in Hanoi), Vietnam, Laos, and the Philippines.
This inspection follows the outcomes of both the Special Meeting on July 28, 2025 and the Extraordinary GBC Meeting on Aug.7, 2025, in Malaysia. These meetings resulted in an agreement on the ceasefire. The active participation of these partner countries demonstrates a shared commitment to ensuring the ceasefire’s success and durability, with the ultimate goal of fostering peace, stability, cooperation, and development for the peoples of both Cambodia and Thailand.
