National Defence Ministry Confirms Stability at the Frontline
AKP Phnom Penh, August 04, 2025 --
The Ministry of National Defence, through its spokesperson, has confirmed that the situation along the frontline in Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey provinces remains calm and steady as of 10:30 a.m. today.
H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry, delivered the update during a press briefing held at 11:00 a.m. in Phnom Penh.
She reaffirmed that the Cambodian armed forces remain strong, fully vigilant, and committed to their duties. She also reiterated Cambodia’s determined, transparent, sincere, and unwavering commitment to upholding the ceasefire agreement reached with Thailand on July 28, 2025, in Putrajaya, Malaysia, aimed at ensuring a stable recovery of the situation.
At the same time, Cambodia continues to engage in active negotiations with the Thai side for the safe and prompt release of the remaining 18 captured Cambodian soldiers still in Thai custody since July 29, apart from the return of two wounded Cambodian personnel on Aug. 1.
Regarding the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting in Malaysia, the spokesperson reported that a delegation from the Secretariat of the Cambodia–Thailand GBC arrived safely in Malaysia yesterday afternoon. They are preparing to participate in the GBC Secretariat Meeting, scheduled for Aug. 4–6, 2025, and the extraordinary session of the Cambodia–Thailand GBC Meeting, set for Aug. 7, 2025.
