CMAC Identifies More Bomb Craters and Unexploded Bombs from Recent Clashes
AKP Phnom Penh, July 31, 2025 --
Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) experts from the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) have identified nine additional bombing sites in their latest survey conducted on July 31. These include four bomb craters caused and five sites with unexploded ordnance.
“All of them — the MK-84 bombs, craters, and unexploded bombs — are confirmed to be from the recent bombardments between July 24 and 28, carried out by the Thai Air Force,” stated H.E. Heng Ratana, Director General of CMAC.
He emphasised that CMAC possesses a comprehensive database of ordnance used during the Indochina war, provided by the United States. This database confirms that no such bombings occurred in the area during that historical conflict.
H.E. Heng Ratana further noted that the use of F-16 aircraft and bombs must be properly documented, including flight records and bomb serial numbers.
In response to the spread of disinformation, CMAC is encouraging independent verification. “We invite anyone who questions the origin of these newly identified bombs — including international explosives experts — to visit the sites and examine the evidence firsthand,” he said.
