BirdLife International Executive Vice President Assesses Conservation Efforts at Lomphat Wildlife Sanctuary
AKP Phnom Penh, July 17, 2025 --
Lesley Dickie, Executive Vice President for BirdLife International, has recently visited Cambodia's Lumphat Wildlife Sanctuary to evaluate the progress of its REDD+ project and identify opportunities to bolster conservation initiatives.
According to NatureLife Cambodia, Ms. Dickie and a delegation from NatureLife Cambodia engaged with park rangers, community patrollers, and local volunteers within the sanctuary, which spans Mondulkiri and Rattanakiri provinces.
The team also met with representatives from key local conservation groups, including the O’Rai Community Protected Area, Rovak, and the Srè Chrey biodiversity conservation group, as well as wildlife-friendly rice farmers. These discussions aimed to foster cooperation and share insights on challenges faced in implementing conservation efforts.
During her visit, Ms. Dickie observed wildlife feeding stations and sighted several rare bird species residing in the sanctuary.
NatureLife Cambodia extended its appreciation to Ms. Dickie and BirdLife International for their ongoing commitment and support in safeguarding Cambodia's natural resources and biodiversity.
