AKP Phnom Penh, July 01, 2025 --
Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, has proposed the establishment of direct flights between Saudi Arabia and Cambodia to boost bilateral cooperation and enhance people-to-people exchanges.
The suggestion was made during his meeting this afternoon with H.E. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh, Speaker of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, at the Senate Palace in Phnom Penh, according to H.E. Chea Thyrith, Spokesperson for the Senate.
H.E. Al-Sheikh praised the steady development of Cambodia–Saudi Arabia relations and expressed his desire to see further progress through increased exchanges of visits between leaders of both countries. He also emphasised the importance of strengthening ties through cooperation in key sectors such as the economy, trade, investment, and particularly tourism, and agriculture.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen identified agriculture as a promising area for Saudi investors to explore. He encouraged potential Saudi investment in Cambodia’s agro-industrial sector and highlighted the need for partnerships in processing Cambodian agricultural products abroad.
The Senate President also took the opportunity to brief the visiting Shura Council Speaker on the current situation along the Cambodian-Thai border, in order to provide a clearer understanding of the realities on the ground between the two neighbouring countries.
