Cambodia Attracts Nearly 3 Million International Tourists in January-May Period
AKP Phnom Penh, July 01, 2025 --
Cambodia attracted a total of 2.95 million international tourists in the first five months of 2025, 11.7 per cent increase from 2.64 million in the same period last year, according to a report from the Ministry of Tourism issued on July 1.
The top five markets of arrivals to the Kingdom were Thailand, Vietnam, China, the United States and Laos, according to the Ministry of Tourism, stated the report.
The Ministry’s Secretary of State and Spokeswoman H.E. Mrs. Hun Dany underscored the significant correlation between peace and robust political stability and the growing number of foreign tourists.
“Peace and political stability are prerequisites in attracting tourists. Foreign tourists will not come to Cambodia if there is no peace, insecurity, and political stability in the country,” she said.
The spokeswoman further attributed the rise in foreign tourist arrivals to the efforts of the Royal Government and the private sector’s effective promotional strategies for the tourism sector, complemented by enhanced airport facilities.
Tourism is one of the four pillars supporting Cambodia’s economy, alongside garment, footwear, travel goods, agriculture, and construction and real estate.
The Ministry of Tourism has set an ambitious target of receiving 7.5 million international tourists in 2025.
At the same time, the report showed that Cambodia outbound tourists inched down by 1.2 percent to 736, 321.
Last year, some 6.7 million foreign tourists visited the Kingdom, a year-on-year increase of 11.7 percent, according to the ministry’s report.
