Malaysian Investors Explore Business Opportunities in Cambodia

A delegation of Malaysian investors coordinated by the Malaysia-Cambodia Business Association (MCBA) President Dr. Dato’ Sri Ricky Yaw explores investment opportunities in Cambodia during their visit from June 26 to 29.
On June 26, they were engaged in a joint business matchmaking event in Phnom Penh, where they were briefed on potential sectors for investment, economic, and trade cooperation in Cambodia.
During the event, Deputy Secretary-General of the Cambodian Investment Board at the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) H.E. Lim Visal walked the visiting Malaysian investors through the investment climate and opportunities in Cambodia, and they also heard relevant updates and interacted with about 100 representatives from Cambodian ministries, relevant institutions, and business owners.
Deputy Prime Minister and CDC First Vice President H.E. Sun Chanthol received the Malaysian business delegation on June 27 and highlighted the advantages for investment in Cambodia, including peace, political and macroeconomic stability, a young workforce, favourable geographical location and transportation infrastructure, and the country’s future as a regional logistics hub.
He emphasised the Cambodian government's support for the growth of the private sector in the country, including through the government-private sector forum, open investment laws and incentives for investment activities, and digitalisation in public service delivery, notably the launch of the Cambodia Investment Project Management System.
The Malaysian business delegation expressed their appreciation of the information and update they received and showed their interest in seizing the investment opportunities in Cambodia in the near future.
The areas of their interest are small and medium enterprises (SMEs), agricultural product processing, furniture, construction and real estate, education, and healthcare services.
