Cambodia, IOM Inks Deal to Strengthen Labour Migration
AKP Phnom Penh, June 27, 2025 –-
The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MoLVT) and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Cambodia have reached a memorandum of understanding on Strengthening Labour Migration in Cambodia.
The official signing ceremony of the agreement was chaired by H.E. Heng Sour, Cambodian Minister of MoLVT, and Ms. Nellie Ghusayni, Chief of IOM Mission in Cambodia, at the ministry on Wednesday.
H.E. Heng Sour underlined that the hard work of migrant workers benefits both their home and host countries and he called on all stakeholders to work together to support and protect the rights and dignity of migrant workers.
The Minister noted that having endured numerous challenges over the past years, Cambodia has developed the experience and commitment necessary to uphold the rights of migrant workers.
Ms. Nellie Ghusayni acknowledged Cambodia’s efforts in supporting migrant workers, highlighting the country’s development of policies aimed at protecting their rights and well-being.
She said that “we are pleased to collaborate with the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the protection and respect of migrant workers’ rights in Cambodia, without discrimination, regardless of their country of origin or region.”
