Information Minister Bolsters Morale of Troops on Cambodia-Thailand Border
AKP Preah Vihear, June 24, 2025 --
Minister of Information H.E. Neth Pheaktra this morning led a delegation of ministry officials and philanthropists to the Cambodia-Thailand border in Preah Vihear province, offering vital support and boosting the morale of Cambodian armed forces stationed there.
The delegation arrived at the Military Bodyguard Command in Choam Khsan district this morning, delivering essential supplies that included food, medicine, daily necessities, and a financial contribution of 50 million Riel (approximately US$12,500).
These provisions are intended to aid soldiers in their crucial mission of safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In his address, H.E. Neth Pheaktra expressed profound admiration and gratitude for the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces' selfless dedication. He highlighted their personal sacrifices in defending the nation from foreign incursions, asserting that the peace and stability enjoyed by civil servants and citizens alike would not be possible without their bravery and unwavering presence.
“This is a noble act that all Cambodians must never forget,” he stated, emphasising the Royal Government’s commitment to national reconciliation and unity. He noted that the “Win-Win Policy,” spearheaded by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet—who succeeded Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, now President of the Senate—successfully ended the civil war and dissolved the Khmer Rouge military structure in 1998.
Minister Pheaktra also reflected on the border clashes with Thailand in 2008 and 2011, describing them as pivotal moments that underscored the leadership and strategic vision of Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
He reiterated Cambodia’s commitment to peace, highlighting the nation's decision to address Thai military aggression through diplomatic and legal channels, including submitting a case to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), while maintaining constant military readiness to protect national sovereignty.
H.E. Minister further stressed the importance of combating misinformation aimed at exploiting public emotion and undermining national unity, underlining Cambodia's use of both diplomatic tools and information strategies to counter false narratives.
“We, as government officials and citizens, express our highest respect and deepest appreciation for the heroism and sacrifices of our frontline troops. We stand firmly behind them in this noble cause,” he affirmed.
“This visit is not just about bringing material support; it is a message of national unity, demonstrating the unbreakable solidarity of the Cambodian people under the leadership of the Royal Government.”
Minister Pheaktra reaffirmed the unwavering support of the Royal Government, civil servants, and the Cambodian people for the frontline forces, promising continued encouragement and assistance in every possible form. He also lauded the growing involvement of Cambodian citizens who, even from afar via social media, have shown solidarity and moral support for the troops.
Concluding his address, H.E. Minister reiterated that under Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet’s strong leadership, Cambodia stands as a steadfast pillar alongside its courageous armed forces.
He stressed that the unity between the Royal Government, military, and people forms a powerful force in resisting aggression and protecting the Kingdom’s sovereignty.
Military commanders in Preah Vihear warmly welcomed the visit, describing it as a crucial morale boost during a tense period along the Cambodia-Thailand border. They expressed appreciation for the Royal Government’s ongoing support as they continue to fulfill their sacred duty to defend the nation.
