Minister Huot Hak Promotes Local Products in Tourism Sector

H.E Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, has promoted the use of local products, especially the Geographical Indication (GI) products in the tourism sector, calling to combat counterfeit products that pose health and public safety risks.
He made the calls while presiding over the opening ceremony of a workshop on "Combating Counterfeit Products That Pose High Risks to Health and Public Safety in the Tourism Sector” held on June 17 at the Cambodia-Korea Cooperation Centre.
This workshop was also attended by H.E. Nov Leakhena, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Interior and Chairman of the Committee for Combating Counterfeit Products That Pose High Risks to Health and Public Safety, as well as other high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Tourism, totaling 312 participants.
In his remarks, H.E. Minister emphasised that counterfeit products not only endanger the health and safety of consumers but also undermine trust in the tourism sector and damage Cambodia’s reputation.
H.E. Minister of Tourism called on hotel owners, restaurants, food establishments, and tourism operators to comply with laws and relevant quality and safety standards, especially in the management of food safety.
Additionally, he also stressed the importance of maintaining clean and hygienic restrooms that meet quality standards.
Furthermore, H.E. Minister encouraged the promotion of Cambodian products, supporting local farmers and producers to focus on quality.
H.E. Minister also urged efforts to inspire tourists to purchase souvenirs that are handmade and produced locally in Cambodia.
