Cambodian Telecommunication Minister Holds Meetings with Leading Digital Technology Companies in Japan
AKP Phnom Penh, June 03, 2025 --
H.E. Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications, led on June 1 and 2 a delegation to meet with approximately 135 digital technology companies in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan.
The meetings were coordinated by the Japan-Cambodia Association and a Japan-based firm, Next Make.
The primary objective of these meetings was to foster and enhance the successful implementation of the Japanese IT Pathway programme.
These companies are seen as key potential partners to provide Cambodian students who successfully complete the Japanese IT Pathway programme with employment opportunities in Japan.
During the meetings, H.E. Minister also promoted and encouraged the use of the document verification platform, verify.gov.kh, in Japan. Furthermore, he encouraged these digital technology firms to invest in Cambodia, particularly in Digital Park.
It is important to note that the Japanese IT Pathway is a joint initiative between the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications and Next Make, aiming to provide Cambodian students with opportunities to pursue careers in Japan’s digital technology sector.
Under this programme, third- and fourth-year university students have to undergo training in Japanese language and digital skills. Upon successful completion, they will become eligible for the employment opportunity with various tech companies in Japan.
