Cambodian Senate President Extends Condolences over the Passing of Former Vietnamese President
AKP Phnom Penh, May 22, 2025 --
Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has sent separate messages to Vietnamese top leaders over the passing of former Vietnamese President H.E. Tran Duc Luong.
“I am deeply saddened after I have learned of the passing of H.E. Tran Duc Luong, Former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on 20th May 2025 at the age of 88,” he wrote in his condolence messages dated May 22 to H.E. To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and H.E. Luong Cuong, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
H.E. Tran Duc Luong will always be remembered as a leader who dedicated almost his entire life to serving his beloved nation by making remarkable contributions to its social progress and modernisation and as a true long-time friend of Cambodia and a pivotal figure in building close friendship and win-win cooperation between our nations and peoples, Samdech Techo Hun Sen underlined.
“On behalf of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia and my own, I wish to convey my deepest condolences and sympathies to Your Excellency, the Government, the National Assembly and the people of Viet Nam, and especially to the bereaved family, for this great loss,” he added. “May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
