Kratie Province Declared Open Defecation Free

Kratie province has officially been declared open defecation free (ODF), becoming the 20th province in Cambodia to achieve this milestone.
An official ceremony marking the achievement was held in the provincial capital on May 5, under the presidency of Minister of Rural Development H.E. Chhay Rithisen.
In his address, H.E. Chhay Rithisen commended Kratie for its significant progress in improving access to sanitation and clean water, describing it as a key step toward public health and development.
Other capital and provinces that have achieved ODF status are Phnom Penh, Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, Kandal, Kampong Speu, Kampong Chhnang, Kep, Preah Sihanouk, Kampong Cham, Rattanakiri, Siem Reap, Thbong Khmum, Takeo, Stung Treng, Kampong Thom, Battambang, Pailin, Banteay Meanchey, and Oddar Meanchey.
Nationwide, Cambodia has achieved 87.4% coverage in access to clean water and 92.4% access to basic sanitation. The government aims to ensure sufficient access to safe drinking water and achieve 100% national coverage for sanitation by 2030.
