Cambodia officially launched its National Cancer Control Plan (NCCP) 2025–2030 this morning, aiming to strengthen the national response to cancer and contribute to the development of the health sector in pursuit of universal health coverage.

The launching ceremony of NCCP 2025–2030 was presided over by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, who emphasised the government's commitment to cancer prevention and control.

“Combating cancer is a priority for Cambodia’s health sector,” said Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet in his keynote address. “The launch of the NCCP 2025–2030 marks the beginning of a renewed effort by the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) to prevent cancer and save lives.”

He reiterated that the government has worked for many years to strengthen the health system and that the NCCP reflects a continued and strengthened commitment.

Samdech Thipadei also urged the public to undergo regular medical checkups to ensure early detection and timely treatment of cancer.

At the same event, the Prime Minister expressed pride in the modernisation of Luong Me Hospital, to become Cambodia’s specialised cancer treatment centre.

Minister of Health H.E. Chheang Ra said that the NCCP 2025–2030 outlines strategic goals, objectives, and key actions that are evidence-based and tailored to Cambodia’s context. The plan aims to improve access to quality cancer prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, and care, as well as establish effective mechanisms for implementation, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation.

According to the minister, Cambodia records around 20,000 new cancer cases annually, including approximately 600 pediatric cases. Cancer-related deaths are estimated at 14,000 per year.
