AKP Phnom Penh, April 30, 2025 --
The Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (MPTC), in collaboration with Cellcard, Nexusguard, and Palo Alto Networks, organised here on April 29 a workshop on “Navigating the Future of Cybersecurity in Cambodia 2025.”
The workshop was presided over by H.E. Liv Sophanarith, Secretary of State at MPTC, and attended by H.E. Shaharuddin Onn, Ambassador of Malaysia to Cambodia, along with officials from various ministries and institutions, the Chief Executive of Malaysia's National Cybersecurity Agency, the Chief Technology and Digital Telecommunications Officer of Cellcard, and approximately 150 national and international guests, including representatives from private companies and NGOs.
In his opening remarks, H.E. Liv Sophanarith stated that cybersecurity is a critical and pressing topic that requires serious attention from relevant stakeholders, both in Cambodia and across the ASEAN region, as well as globally.
He emphasised that embracing digital transformation from relevant stakeholders is essential, but it must be done with great awareness of its impacts and other threats to digital systems.
In this regard, the seminar on “Navigating the Future of Cybersecurity in Cambodia 2025” plays a vital role in promoting Cyber Readiness through awareness, protection, prevention, and response to cyberattacks.
Furthermore, he underlined that cyber threats can take many forms to target digital security systems by using advanced technologies. Among these threats, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) represents a new context that poses challenges not only to countries in the region but also to the global community.
