Cambodia Reviews Action Plan on Building Cambodia-China Community with a Shared Future
AKP Phnom Penh, March 14, 2025 --
H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister, First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, and Co-Chair of Cambodia-China Intergovernmental Coordination Committee, presided over a meeting here on Wednesday to review the progress of the Action Plan on Building a Cambodia-China Community with a Shared Future in the New Era.
The meeting was attended by representatives of relevant ministries, institutions, committee members, and many relevant officials.
The event is aimed to review and discuss the report on the work progress during the second half of 2024 of the implementation of the action plan (2024-2028) and to identify work directions as key priorities for future implementation.
The Action Plan on Building a Cambodia-China community with a Shared Future focuses on six priority areas: political cooperation, production capacity and quality, agriculture, energy, security, and people-to people exchange.
It was signed on Sept. 15, 2023 with an aim to promote comprehensive strategic partnership cooperation between the two countries.
China has affirmed continued support for the development and improvement of Cambodian people's livelihoods through further implementation of the Global Development Initiative and projects such as rural roads, bridges, water supplies, schools and hospitals. The Cambodian side appreciated China's staunch support.
This bond is reinforced by robust trade relations and economic cooperation. In recent years, China has consistently been Cambodia’s top trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching US$15.19 billion in 2024—a 24 percent increase from 2023—accounting for 30 percent of Cambodia’s total trade.
