Information Minister Signifies Women's Qualification and Participation
AKP Phnom Penh, March 05, 2025 -- The Minister of Information calls for further recognition of women's capacities to broaden pathways for their socio-economic engagement.
H.E. Neth Pheaktra emphasised women's pivotal role on Mar. 5 when addressing the ministry's early celebration of the 114th International Women's Day 2025.
Undeniably, many women are more capable and qualified than men, so they should receive the opportunities they deserve.
On this basis, the Government of Cambodia, he said, is relentlessly promoting women's participation across sectors and at all levels.
Though the number of women in leadership roles remains low, women have secured about 48 percent of civil service jobs across Cambodia, he added.
Gradually more and more women have embarked on senior leadership roles in the legislature, the executive, and the judiciary branches in the country, including the national assembly president, lawmakers, ministers, and beyond.
The Ministry of Information celebrated Women's Day under the corporate theme of Rights, Equity, and Empowerment for All Women and Girls with the attendance of Honorary President of the Cambodian Women's Association for Peace and Development of the Ministry of Information, Lok Chumteav Tuy Serey Ratanak.
Roughly 52 percent of Cambodia's total population of about 17 million are women.
