U.S.-funded Mine Action Projects in Cambodia Resumed, says CMAC Director General
AKP Phnom Penh, February 21, 2025 --
The Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) has received confirmations regarding a conditional notice to resume mine clearance projects funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement (PM/WRA).
“Today 20 February 2025, I have received the confirmations from CMAC’s development partners regarding a conditional notice to resume PMWRA projects while the U.S. government conducts their policy review of U.S. Foreign Aid,” wrote H.E. Heng Ratana, Director General of CMAC on his social media network last evening.
On behalf of CMAC’s management and technical team members on the ground, H.E. Heng Ratana expressed his gratitude to Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister for kindly conveying urgent requirements for continued assistance from the U.S. for clearance of landmine/remnants of war in the Kingdom.
“At the same time, we express our gratitude to all development partners, U.S. Embassy Leaderships and Project Managers at the Department of State for tireless supports, and of course thanks to the Government of the United States for granting this waver,” added the director general.
