Cambodian PM Visits Cashew Farmers in Kampong Thom Province

Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet on Jan. 31 spent his time to visit and talk directly with local cashew farmers in Kampong Thom central province.
During this unofficial trip, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet met with the Prasat Sambo Rong Roeung Modern Cashew Nut Community in Kaul commune, Prasat Sambo district, Kampong Thom province and learned a lot about the real situation of cashew cultivation and its benefits as well as the farmers’ challenges.
Cashew is a most potential crop for Cambodia. Under the Royal Government’s special attention, the National Cashew Policy 2022-2027 has been introduced and now the Kingdom becomes one of the world largest producers of raw cashew nuts.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries’ report shows that cashew plantations cover an area of about 580,117 hectares across Cambodia in 2024. Kampong Thom province has the largest cultivated area of around 147,700 hectares, followed by Kratie province with 102,500 hectares and Rattanakiri province with 97,200 hectares.
Last year, Cambodia exported nearly US$504 million worth of cashew nuts, a year-on-year increase of over 31 percent, according to the data received from the General Department of Customs and Excise.
