AKP Banteay Meanchey, January 31, 2025–
H.E. Neth Pheaktra, Minister of Information, has called upon officials of Banteay Meanchey Provincial Information Department to remain committed to consistently disseminating information through both traditional and modern media.
This effort aims to provide citizens with accurate and comprehensive information that meets their needs while also promoting the province’s potential to contribute to overall provincial development.
The minister made these remarks during a meeting in the provincial city this morning to exchange views, offer encouragement, and present honorary medals and certificates of appreciation to the leadership and officials of the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Information Department in recognition of their outstanding contributions.
H.E. Neth Pheaktra emphasised the critical role of the Provincial Information Department as a key secretariat to the provincial administration on public information and communication.
He highlighted that in today’s digital society, where people access news and information through social media, it is essential for the department’s information and public relations team to monitor false or misleading news.
He encouraged officials to manage and prevent the spread of fake news and respond promptly to any information disseminated on social media that could impact stability, public order, or security within the province and the country as a whole.
The minister also underscored the necessity of increasing public information dissemination at the local level to ensure that citizens receive accurate and comprehensive news. This, he noted, would provide the public with clear and reliable sources of information to support informed decision-making, ultimately benefiting their daily lives, local development, and efforts to counter misinformation.
Additionally, H.E. Neth Pheaktra praised the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Information Department for its significant achievements in 2024 in managing and overseeing the media landscape within the province. He acknowledged their efforts in maintaining journalistic ethics, strengthening media professionalism, and ensuring public awareness on various issues. He further commended the department’s officials for their active participation in producing and disseminating news, helping to clarify public perceptions on various matters.
On this occasion, the minister also encouraged the leadership and officials of the department to continue researching and adopting new knowledge and technologies to enhance their capabilities in line with societal advancements. He urged them to uphold the principles of proactivity, engagement, and responsiveness in their roles, particularly in strengthening public communication, media management, and effective news dissemination. This, he said, is essential for the department to serve as a strategic secretariat to the provincial administration in matters of information and public opinions.
